　 历史清晰地记载着：1919年5月4日，北京的几十位青年学生作为广大民众中觉醒的第一批人，掀起了轰轰烈烈的五四爱国运动，使历史的车轮骤然驶进20世纪中国第一次思想解放时期。在此之后，中共一大的13名代表，其平均年龄只有28岁，最年轻的仅19岁，他们中许多人都成为中国革命的中坚力量。新中国成立之初，一大批年轻人在党的召唤下到苏联学习，用所学知识投入到百废待兴的祖国建设之中。历史证明，年轻人往往都站在历史发展的风口浪尖，他们是推动历史前进的重要动力。马克思、恩格斯曾经指出：“作为确定的人、现实的人，你就有规定，就有使命，就有任务。至于你是否意识到这一点，那都是无所谓的。这个任务是由你的需要及其与现存世界的联系而产生的。”从老一辈革命家和建设者的身上可以得出一个结论：“你的需要及其与现存世界的联系”正是历史的需要，国家的需要，社会发展的需要。

　 时代召唤年轻人去坚定地履行新的历史使命。大学生是青年中有较多机会接受现代科学技术教育的一部分人，是“科教兴国”战略的受益者。我们在受益的同时，也应是“科教兴国”的实践者和完成者，理所应当义不容辞地挑起振兴祖国科技事业、迎接新技术革命挑战的重担，从而成为社会主义现代化建设和中华民族伟大复兴的中坚力量。

　　一、坚定共产主义信仰 理想信念是我们的事业与生活的精神支柱，是人生的动力源泉，理想是指路明灯，没有理想，就没有正确的方向。青年学生应当树立崇高的理想、坚定的信念。实现共产主义是崇高的理想，它是建立在对社会发展规律科学认识的基础之上的，是人类历史上最美好且科学的制度。

　 1树立牢固的共产主义远大理想

　 当代青年大学生只有树立共产主义的远大理想和志向，才能眼界开阔、胸怀坦荡、生活充实，才能胜不骄、败不馁，才能坚持正确的政治方向和经受住各种严峻的考验。当代青年学生只有自觉地把自己的思想行动与实现共产主义的远大目标联结起来，才能使自己的人生追求上升到更高的境界。

　 2用马克思主义世界观武装自己的头脑

　 大学生应该重视和加强理论学习，把对共产主义的信仰建立在科学的理论基础之上。作为青年大学生，要努力学习马列主义、毛泽东思想、邓小平理论和“三个代表”重要思想，认真学习和实践科学发展观，不断提高自身的思想水平和理论素养，运用辩证唯物主义和历史唯物主义的强大思想武器，充分认识社会发展的基本规律，不断改造客观世界和主观世界，把无产阶级和广大人民群众的根本利益视为最高利益，把全心全意为人民服务视为人生的最大价值，把为在世界上消灭一切剥削制度、实现共产主义的伟大理想而奋斗作为人生的最高目标。

　 3加强自我教育，完善自我

　 青年大学生要加强自我教育，不断完善自我。在艰巨的社会主义现代化建设任务面前，在复杂而多变的国际环境中，青年大学生要始终保持清醒的头脑，明辨前进的方向，在共产主义信仰上不犹豫、不动摇，要以先进模范人物为榜样，反复校正自己的思想和言行，使自己真正成为一个高尚的人、纯粹的人、有道德的人、有益于人民的人，能够经受住时代考验，永葆当代青年人的本色。

　 4脚踏实地，做坚定的共产主义信仰者

　 树立共产主义远大理想，既是一个认识问题，更是一个实践问题。邓小平同志说过：“青年应当有远大的理想，又要十分重视任何细小的工作。要有远大的理想，才能永远保持前进的勇气和方向，而达到理想的道路是要由无数细小的日常工作积累起来的。你们应当把远大的理想和日常的工作结合起来，在任何工作中，严格地要求自己，发挥大胆创造和不怕困难的精神。”青年大学生不仅要说得好，更要做得到。要能为实现共产主义远大理想而刻苦学习，认真实践，努力奋斗，不论遇到什么困难，都要志存高远、矢志不渝、脚踏实地，从一点一滴做起，充分发挥自己的聪明才智，最大限度地履行自己的责任和义务，把自己的青春年华奉献给祖国、奉献给社会、奉献给人民。

　 一切有抱负的中国青年学生，只有在中国共产党的领导下，同人民紧密结合，为祖国奉献青春，在共产主义远大理想的指引下才能大有作为。这是当代中国青年学生成长必须坚持的正确方向。

　　二、做忠贞不渝的爱国主义者 胡锦涛总书记在北大师生代表座谈会上对青年提出了新时期大力弘扬爱国主义精神的新要求，明确指出了当代青年的责任与使命：“坚持爱国主义与社会主义的高度统一，时刻心系民族命运、心系国家发展、心系人民福祉，使爱国主义精神在新的时代条件下发扬光大”。

　 (一)爱国主义的科学内涵

　 爱国主义是以忠诚、热爱和报效祖国为主要内容的意识形态。它包含着爱国的情感、爱国的思想和爱国的行为三个层面的内涵。爱国主义是“千百年来巩固起来的对自己祖国的一种最深厚的感情”，是个体对民族和国家的一种心理上的依恋、归宿和态度上的认同，是对于祖国无限忠诚和热爱的自觉意识，是维护祖国尊严和国家利益的使命感、责任感，是为祖国的独立和富强而贡献力量的奋斗精神和献身精神。

　 爱国主义是重要的政治原则和道德规范。一个国家的政治前途如何，直接关系到国家与民族的荣辱兴衰，因此，爱国主义是一条重要的政治原则。许多国家制定宪法时，都常常把爱国主义作为一个重要的政治原则写进宪法。通过宪法的规定要求所有公民加以遵守，并以政权的行政力量来保证它的实施。同时，爱国主义还是一个重要的道德规范。它通过内心信念、社会舆论、传统习惯发挥作用，以维护祖国的利益为尺度，评判美与丑、善与恶、是与非、赞扬与唾弃，从而调节个人与国家、个人与民族之间的关系。

　 爱国主义有如下具体表现：第一，强烈的民族自豪感。这是对自己所生活的祖国的自然环境、伟大成就和历史、文化、传统等无比热爱而产生的光荣和自豪。第二，坚强的民族自尊心。这是一个民族热爱自己的祖国，不容许外人歧视、凌辱本国和本民族的尊严、荣誉，坚决维护国家和民族利益的情感。第三，坚定的民族自信心。这是一个民族在其前进道路上，依靠自己的力量，战胜困难，创造美好未来的一种充满坚定信念的情感。

　 (二)爱国主义是中华民族的优良传统

　 中华民族的爱国主义传统和中华民族的历史一样悠久。一部中华民族的发展史，就是一部爱国主义的奋斗史。按照中国历史发展进程，中华民族的爱国主义可以划分为三种类型：古代的爱国主义、近现代的爱国主义和当代的爱国主义。

　 我国古代的爱国主义，即中华民族自古至1840年鸦片战争以前的爱国主义传统。它主要表现为：缔造、维护和捍卫祖国的统一及民族的团结;反抗阶级压迫、民族压迫和外敌入侵，维护国家主权和民族独立;开发祖国河山，创造灿烂的中华文明。

　 中华民族近现代爱国主义优良传统主要表现为：反对帝国主义侵略，维护民族独立和国家主权;反对封建主义压迫，推翻腐败的封建专制制度。中华民族在长期的历史发展过程中，形成了强烈的反抗民族压迫、反抗外来侵略的爱国主义传统。

　 新中国成立后，中华民族的爱国主义进入了一个崭新的历史阶段，其主要特征是：在中国共产党的领导下，实现了爱国主义和社会主义的统一，开创了建设中国特色社会主义的伟大事业，为实现中华民族的伟大复兴而奋斗。面对新的世纪，中华民族从来没有像今天这样扬眉吐气、豪情满怀。经过新中国60年特别是改革开放30多年的奋斗，我国综合国力空前提高，人民生活水平显著改善，香港、澳门先后回归。新中国正迈开巨人的步伐阔步奔向美好的未来。

　 古往今来，这些中华民族代代相传、经世不衰的爱国主义优良传统，一直激励着中国人民为祖国的统一、发展和强大而努力奋斗，成为团结凝聚国家和民族、推动历史前进发展的强大的精神力量和宝贵的精神财富。

　 (三)爱国主义是推动社会历史前进的强大精神力量

　 纵观历史，曾与中国一起被列为世界文明古国的其他国家，几乎无一例外地都衰落在历史的风尘中。古老的中华民族之所以顽强地走到今天，一个重要的原因就是在千百年来的历史长河中逐渐形成并不断得以发展的爱国主义传统已经深深地融入到我们的民族意识之中。爱国主义唤起了整个中华民族对自己祖国的挚爱并由此激发了强大的民族凝聚力和国家凝聚力，成为动员和鼓舞人民团结奋斗的一面旗帜。为此，才有了“天下兴亡，匹夫有责”的豪言壮语;才有了生生不息、代代崛起的“位卑未敢忘忧国”的仁人志士。正是这种伟大的爱国主义精神，推动着我们这个古老的民族自强不息、艰苦奋斗，历经磨难而不衰，屹立于世界民族之林。

　 (四)大学生要做坚定的爱国主义者

　 当代大学生是建设中国特色社会主义的后备力量，是中国现代化建设的生力军，应当继承中华民族爱国主义的光荣传统，努力弘扬伟大的民族精神，以振兴中华为己任，做坚定的爱国主义者。

　 首先，当代大学生要了解历史，了解国情，了解当代中国面临的机遇和挑战。知国才能爱国，知之深才能爱之切。我国正处于并将长期处于社会主义初级阶段，面临着诸多国际国内问题的挑战，这有助于激发当代大学生的历史使命感和社会责任感。大学生们一定要了解祖国的过去和现在，自觉地对祖国的未来承担责任。

　 其次，当代大学生要努力培养和不断升华爱国主义的责任感。一个坚定的爱国者，必定会深刻地意识到这种个人与祖国血肉相连、休戚与共的关系，从而牢固树立起对国家的责任感。在当今时代，处在社会主义初级阶段的中国要在新世纪的激烈竞争中抢占经济社会发展的制高点，迫切需要一大批努力学习，顽强拼搏，掌握科学文化知识，勇攀现代科学高峰的各类人才。这是新时期爱国主义对青年学子的时代要求，也是青年学子对祖国应尽的责任。

　 最后，坚持“知行合一”，积极投身社会实践。青年学生立志报效祖国，关键的一点是要做到“知行合一”，从自己做起、从现在做起，积极投身于建设中国特色社会主义的伟大实践中，在社会实践中经受锻炼，增长才干，使所掌握的书本知识有用武之地，为人民为祖国作出应有的贡献。

　　三、做中国特色社会主义事业的合格建设者和可靠接班人 当代青年大学生是社会主义现代化的宏伟目标的建设者和实现者。按照邓小平同志设计的“三步走”的战略目标，到21世纪中叶，我国将实现社会主义现代化。按照这一时间进程，从现在开始，大学生是社会主义现代化宏伟事业的建设者、中华民族伟大复兴的实现者。每个青年都可以在这威武雄壮、意义深远的历史舞台上大显身手。青年大学生应当为时逢这一大好的时代而庆幸、而自豪。历史实践已经显示：高校毕业的学生党员已成为我国党政管理干部的重要来源，是推动经济社会发展的主要力量，是巩固党的执政地位、确保党的先进性的中坚力量。每个青年大学生一定要明确我们所肩负的历史责任，始终牢记党和人民的嘱托，不断提高自身思想素质和科学文化素质，脚踏实地，锐意进取，紧紧地围绕党的十七大确定的目标和任务，自觉地肩负起振兴中华的光荣使命，做社会主义事业的合格建设者和可靠接班人。

　 (一)树立坚定的社会主义信念

　 信念是人类意识的核心部分，是人们生活尤其是精神生活不可缺少的一个方面。邓小平同志说过：“为什么我们过去能在非常困难的情况下奋斗出来，战胜千难万险取得革命的胜利呢?就是因为我们有理想，有马克思主义的信念，有共产主义必胜的信念。”当代大学生要树立坚定的社会主义信念，关键是要认真学习马列主义、毛泽东思想、邓小平理论和“三个代表”重要思想，努力学习实践科学发展观，提高自己的政治素质和社会主义觉悟，始终做到头脑清醒，意志坚定，认真按照“八荣八耻”的要求，自觉地遵守社会主义思想道德规范，抵制西方落后的思想和文化的腐化和侵蚀，提高明辨是非的能力。

　 当代青年大学生要坚定不移地走中国特色社会主义道路。中国特色社会主义道路既是实现中华民族伟大复兴的根本道路，又是共产主义远大目标在现阶段的具体实践。我们党始终坚持最低纲领与最高纲领的统一。在现阶段为实现共产主义理想而奋斗，就是要脚踏实地为实现党的基本纲领而奋斗，为夺取全面建设小康社会新胜利而奋斗。胡锦涛同志指出：“要加强理想信念教育与实践锻炼的结合，既胸怀共产主义远大理想又坚定不移地走中国特色社会主义道路，矢志不渝地为实现党在社会主义初级阶段的基本路线、基本纲领而奋斗。”这既是对全体青年的要求，更是对青年大学生的希望。

　 (二)弘扬时代精神，做勇敢的改革创新者

　 时代精神强调的是一种精神的时代性，是一定时代的精神主流和基本价值取向，是在一定时代为最广大群众在思想上认同、在行动上践行的一种文化潮流，是一定时代的主体精神。党的十一届三中全会以来，围绕“什么是社会主义，怎样建设社会主义”的历史主题，邓小平同志倡导全党全国人民，要坚持发扬革命加拼命的精神，严守纪律和自我牺牲的精神，大公无私和先人后己的精神，压倒一切敌人、压倒一切困难的精神和坚持革命乐观主义，排除万难去争取胜利的精神。正是这些伟大的时代精神，体现了中华民族的历史主动性和创造性，影响和激励着一代又一代勤劳勇敢的中国人，推动时代进步和历史发展。

　 (三)实践社会主义荣辱观，引领社会主义新风尚

　 以“八荣八耻”为主要内容的社会主义荣辱观，是中华民族的传统美德、优秀革命道德和时代精神的最完美结合，反映了社会主义道德的基本要求，为在社会主义市场经济条件下判断行为得失、分清是非荣辱、明辨善恶美丑、确定价值取向、作出道德选择提供了基本的准则。它具有强烈的时代感和现实针对性。热爱祖国、服务人民、崇尚科学、辛勤劳动、团结互助、诚实守信、遵纪守法、艰苦奋斗，完整地体现了社会主义荣辱观所倡导的道德规范。这八个道德规范是相互联系、相互促进的，需要在全面建设小康社会的进程中全面把握和体现。

　 当代青年学生必须按照胡锦涛总书记的要求，牢固树立社会主义荣辱观，明于荣辱之分，大力推进社会主义思想道德建设，使荣誉回归真实，使知耻蔚然成风，校正社会道德价值取向。要通过各种教育手段和途径，培育民众特别是青年大学生的社会主义荣誉感和道德羞耻心。只有社会民众特别是青年大学生在内心深处树立社会主义荣辱观，才能形成民族和社会的道德力量，从而在国家和社会生活中发挥巨大的精神作用。

　 (四)做科学发展观的忠实践行者
