Sometimes, it’s just no fun separating fact from fiction. And when it comes to Rachel Bilson, we want to believe she’s exactly liked her spoilt-but-sweet OC alter ego Summer Roberts. But on arrival at the super-swank New York Ritz-Carlton hotel, we’re greeted by a dressed-down, messy-haired barely celeb, snuggling under a blanker on the couch of her hotel suite.
She’s quieter than the Summer-esque star we’re expecting. But as we settle in to talk about all things Bilson, she’s friendly, chatty and in possession of a pretty big laugh. Especially when it comes to discussing her ex, Adam. Well, we guess that means she’s over him...
You were dating Adam Brody for a long time. What went wrong?你和Adam Brody相处了很长一段时间，是因为什么分开的？
“Nothing! I just think people grow apart sometimes. We were together for three years. But we’re still very friendly and respectful of each other.”

“I haven’t seen him since The OC wrapped, but I hear through mutual friends how he’s doing. We haven’t had time to meet up or talk. But I know that we could, and if we did, it would be totally fine.”

“I’m not. Honestly! That quote was taken out of context―it was the first interview I ever did. I had a good childhood, a good family and I got toys sometimes, like any other kid.”
You must get spoilt when you’re going to a premiere?你初次亮相时一定紧张坏了吧？
“I usually get myself ready, I do my own hair and make-up. One of my very good friends is a stylist, so she’ll get things for me and I get to pick and play, which is fun. I like to take the least amount of time and not to get stressed. Stressing about these things is silly.”
Is it pretty competitive?这是一场漂亮的竞争吗？
“I don’t look at it as a competition―I think you should feel comfortable in what you’re wearing. If I see another celebrity on the red carpet with a stunning outfit, I’ll tell them. I don’t get competitive over it.”

“You need to manipulate. You don’t actually ask them for something outright, you have to make them think they thought of it. Then they’ll do it.”
What’s your best girlfriend quality？你觉得你作为女友的最佳品质是什么？
“You’d have to ask them! I don’t know―I think I’m funny and that’s endearing. I’m dorky funny. I have a hard time listening and paying attention. Like, I’ll be talking about something, and then totally out of nowhere, I’ll say, ‘I love puppies.’ My thoughts will just come out like that!”

It’s important to be creative, individual and not clone other people! I definitely have my own sense of style. So find yours and wear things you feel comfortable in and make you feel good.

It’s fun to experiment with make-up. I like mascara and eyeliner. They’re good staples. And Chapstick is very important.

I’m an accessories person―scarves, hats, shoes and purses make an outfit. Stick to jeans and a T-shirt and have that as your palette.
